A Cabin That's Generations Ahead

The 2025 CX-5's interior was already above average for its class. The 2026 takes it to an entirely different level with Mazda's largest-ever touchscreen, Google integration, and a redesigned cabin that minimizes buttons in favor of intuitive digital controls.

For drivers commuting from Scranton or heading through the Poconos, the 2026's Google Maps navigation, hands-free voice controls via Google Assistant, and available Gemini AI assistant make every trip more connected and effortless.

The 2025 offered a rotary controller and 10.25" screen. The 2026 replaces both with a responsive touchscreen up to 50% larger, supporting multi-finger gestures and a smartphone-like interface. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard on Select trims and above.

What Happened to the Turbo?

The 2025 CX-5 offered an optional turbo engine with up to 256 horsepower. The 2026 launches with only the naturally aspirated 2.5L (187 hp), but Mazda has recalibrated it for sharper throttle response and a quieter, more refined cruising experience.

For drivers who want more power, Mazda has confirmed a hybrid variant for 2027, powered by the all-new SkyActiv-Z engine with Mazda's first in-house hybrid system — expected to deliver over 200 combined horsepower with significantly better fuel economy.

The standard i-Activ AWD and 6-speed automatic transmission carry over, and Mazda's new Mi-Drive system offers Normal, Sport, and Off-Road modes — perfect for the varied terrain around the Wyoming Valley and Pocono Mountains.

Should You Upgrade to the 2026?

If you're currently driving a 2025 CX-5 or earlier, the 2026 represents the biggest generational leap the CX-5 has ever seen. The added rear-seat space, modern infotainment, and expanded standard safety features make it a compelling upgrade — especially for growing families. If you valued the turbo engine, the 2027 hybrid promises even more combined power with better fuel economy. For shoppers in Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, and Hazleton comparing the two, the 2026 delivers a more spacious, more connected, and safer vehicle at only $940 more than the outgoing model's base price.
